Horseback riding and trekking for various levels are also part of the itinerary.

Among the most sought after activities are:

Rafting is practiced on rivers Macaé and Alto Macaé

Pai João Trail

The first option for an adventure ride is to hike along the Pai João Trail. You hike along streams until you get to the first waterfall, with natural pools and a delicious natural whirlpool. After taking a dip, there is nothing better than another hike along the riverside surrounded by thick forest. The hike lasts approximately two hours and return to base is done by car.

Rafting

Rafting is practiced on rivers Macaé and Alto Macaé. The 4.5 to 6 km route can be traveled in about two hours. The minimum age for rafting is eight. The route includes stretches of calm waters and of rapids.

Ecological Horseback Riding

Held amidst the Atlantic forest, the rides are led by Mangalarga Marchador horses. The two hour journey cuts through dirt roads typical of farms. The entire ride is monitored by guides. Tourist agencies offer the rides. The relevant contact information can be obtained at the Tourism Bureau, located in the town’s Entrance Porch.
