Considered one of the best streaks in the world for sailing, Búzios hosts national and international championships.

The Ferradura and Tartaruga beaches are best for beginners. Those with more experience will find great winds at Rasa and Manguinhos beaches. Fans of extreme maneuvers usually go to Geribá beach, where the strong winds are the perfect company for the waves.

For those who want to practice or learn, the Búzios Vela Clube in Manguinhos offers sailing boat classes and support structure for sailing. The club also runs a windsurfing school, the Bimba Windsurfing, which is managed by the world champion and offers classes that bring together students that range from 5 to 65 years old.

At Ferradura beach, the sailing schools, in addition to windsurfing lessons, laser and hobie cat 16 lessons. The equipment, as well as kayaks and stand-up boards, can be rented directly at the beaches.

To learn how to sail or to go to other beaches, guide Jürgen Dittfurth, of the Surfing School, instructs and leads the hobie cat 16 around the area. The equipment can also be rented. The Búzios Vela Clube also offers boat trips around the peninsula aboard the Batera Buzios boat.
